Roasting Ears of Corn Festival – A Taste of Tradition
When: Saturday & Sunday, August 16–17
Where: Museum of Indian Culture, Allentown
If your family’s in the mood for a summertime tradition with a side of history, the Roasting Ears of Corn Festival is calling your name. Known as Pennsylvania’s oldest Native American–themed festival, it’s a weekend of mouthwatering roasted corn, cultural demonstrations, traditional dance, storytelling, and artisan crafts. The air will be rich with the smell of open-fire cooking, and everywhere you turn, there’s something new for curious kids to discover.

Nor-Bath Trail – Smooth, Scenic, and Stroller-Friendly
When: Anytime (open daily)
Where: Trail runs between Northampton and Bath
The Nor-Bath Trail is a gentle, paved rail-trail perfect for strollers, scooters, bikes, and little legs still learning to pedal. Stretching almost 6 miles, it weaves through peaceful countryside, shaded patches, and open stretches where you can spot wildflowers and maybe even a bunny or two. With multiple access points, you can pick a short out-and-back or go big with a longer ride.

The Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center offers 1,168 acres of trails, forests, and streams—plus a fascinating slice of Pennsylvania history. Families can explore the rare old-growth Henry’s Woods, watch for hawks overhead, or step into the past with living history demonstrations tied to the state’s early gunmaking industry. Whether you go for the hike or the heritage, there’s always something to discover.

The Delaware Canal Towpath is a peaceful, flat trail running beside the old canal and river. Once the route for mules towing cargo boats, it’s now a haven for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Kids can spot turtles sunning themselves, watch herons fish in the shallows, and imagine what life was like when the canal was bustling with trade.
